As CEO, Jeff focuses on inspiring Eduplanet21’s nimble staff to create the best professional learning and curriculum design software. As a result of his innovative work in the industry, Jeff received several national awards including Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Arthur Anderson’s Best Practices Award, and a “Top 100 Hot Emerging Company” national ranking by ComputerWorld magazine. Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, golfing, and traveling.
Vice President and Strategic PartnerBena Kallick began her career in education when she helped start a teachers’ center and a children’s museum. Bena is now the Chief Academic Officer for Eduplanet21, owner of the Institute for Habits of Mind, a well-established consultant, professor, and author of over ten published works. Formerly, Bena was a Board Member of GlobalMindED and was previously on the board of the Apple Foundation, Jobs for the Future, Weston Woods Institute and Communities for Learning. You can often find Bena with her family in New York seeing shows, touring museums, and trying new foods.
Strategic PartnerJay McTighe brings a wealth of experience developed during a rich and varied career in education, including work with the Maryland Assessment Consortium and the Maryland State Department of Education. Jay has co-authored 14 books, including the award-winning and best-selling Understanding by Design® (UbD) series with Grant Wiggins. As an educational consultant, Jay has made presentations in 47 US states and 19 countries on six continents. Since education is a “learning” profession, Jay set a learning goal when he was 57 years of age to be surfing by 60. And he did it!
Lead Software EngineerJared Hoddinett, our Lead Software Engineer, first began programming at the age of nine and still shows the same passion for programming and education today. Jared obtained a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Information Systems from Queensland University of Technology. After graduation, Jared began working in the edtech industry. Jared spent six years as the Technical Lead for Edutect, the developer of Unit Planner. Jared lives with his wife and two young children in Brisbane, Australia and enjoys fishing and sport in his downtime.
